So far news summaries lead the home office weekly updates this week with the Home Secretary introducing new legislation to stop protestors tunnelling and promotion of a successful criminal case against people smugglers.

Of interest to those who follow national security and its impact on freedoms, the National Security fact sheets and collections will be of key interest. They include details on new clauses of the National Security bill including restricted places, powers of police and detention, definitions of espionage. All increasing the power of the state

Furthermore, there were 196 arrests for terrorism in year ending 31 March 2022 27 more than 2021. 55 were charged with 23 convicted. 91 were white males, 50 Asian males and Algerian remains the top nationality of those arrested from outside of the UK

Latest quarterly statistics on EU Settlement scheme showed 5.83 million EEA . Swiss and non EEA nationals had been granted status to remain in the UK. Total number of Applications 6.648 million (591,00 after 30 June 2021)
