Home Office Weekly Updates
4- 10 April 2022
This week was dominated by immigration and in particular policy, rules and procedures to reside in the UK. The number one area is Ukraine. Guidance was updated on how to apply for visas under the government two Ukraine schemes. The Ukraine Family Scheme and The Ukrainian Sponsorship Scheme (Homes for Ukraine). Guidance and factsheets were also produced for those applying and for caseworkers analysing applications. we also had updated data on the number of visas applied for under both schemes.
Next came EU and Swiss citizens with guidance on family and travel permits under the EU Settlement Scheme, visiting the UK as an EU, EEA or Swiss Citizen with guidance for caseworkers.
Then we had a raft of updates on how to come, qualify for visas and live in the UK and costs. Guidance lists for achievements in science and the arts that qualify applicants for the Global Talent route and can go straight to visa application process were published, The Home Secretary responded to the Migration Advisory Committee’s review about the Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) route, applying for domicile where a claim is through a father, policies on refunding immigration applications and the removal of fees for those asylum applicants with indefinite leave to enter to make a no time application for a biometric passport
The story for some researchers will be how many people are coming to the UK and how do these policies help them.
